We saw this show event listing and decided to go out to New Smyrna Beach on Fathers Day and check it out. We wanted to see different cars and meet different people, and we were not disappointed. We're certainly glad we went, as this was a cool spot along SR44 just east of SR415. A nice picnic area with tables and chairs and a grove of trees shaded the 50 plus owners and cars who attended this FREE, well-organized show. The downside was a dirt road leading to the grassy grove, but the past evening's rains kept the dust down - a 15 minute wipedown was all that was needed to get the car in show shape. Activities for the kids included a bounce slide and a play area. To top it off, a FREE lunch of burgers, dogs, beans, chips, pasta salad, sodas and water was offered to all cruisers and attendees by the fine folks of the Crossroads Christian Church (donations were appreciated). The show was very well organized (it ran from 9:30am to 2pm - we were home and in our pool by 2:45), and even included a church service for those who wished to attend. Along with the Best in Show awards (actually, 2 - for Original and Custom), there were other very unique awards - the Minister's Pick, Oldest Vehicle, Best paint, Longest Distance Traveled, Car with the Most Windows, and Car with the Largest Tires. No trophies, but very usable gifts went to the winners. All in all, it was a great fun day for the whole family. Check out my slideshow . . .
